The new way of learning
Gaming in Healthcare (GIDZ, Gaming in de Zorg) is the new way of learning. Through
simulations, GIDZ trains you on topics such as dementia, dealing with aggression,
and healthcare legislation. You acquire knowledge and skills, and put them to the
test, in your simulated working environment on the computer. This way of learning
is unique for healthcare in the Netherlands.
In GIDZ you can experience situations you might encounter, or have already
encountered, in real life. It enables you to practice and to prepare for similar
situations in the future.
GIDZ has other functions in addition to the simulated working environments. To
start with, it provides you with the GIDZ library. The library is an important
tool that can be addressed both from within the game as well as separately,
containing up-to-date and easily accessible information on the topics covered
by GIDZ. Next, it is possible to interact with people by sending your question
to someone who knows more on a particular topic, by chatting with other players
in the chatroom, or by leaving a message on the forum. Finally, GIDZ has a report
function that tells you which topics you are good at and which topics require
some more attention.
